Shaucha and Ashaucha 纯净和不纯净 (22)

Note: Every week from 1995, Guruji started sending out knowledge sheets which he fondly called the 'Knowledge Fax' to be read out and discussed at Satsangs happening all around the world. Guruji ended this delightful practice at the 365th week in September 2002, so as to let us fully digest them! These knowledge sheets have been compiled into An Intimate Note To The Sincere Seeker Volumes 1-7. I began the practice of posting a Knowledge Sheet every week for the benefit of those who have not had the opportunity to get hold of these priceless books. It had never cease to uplift me by reading and rereading this knowledge. So I know you would certainly enjoy them!

When you are miserable, what has happened? You have gone away from the Self. This is called ashaucha. It means you have become unclean.

In India when someone dies, the close relatives are said to be ashaucha for ten days because they are very sad. They are impure because they have moved away from the Self. After ten days of being with that experience and reading the Gita, being with the Knowledge and pulling themselves back to the Self, then they are called shaucha. They have purged out the impurities that came during those events.

This happens again and again in life. You become ashaucha and you have to get back to shaucha. Go deeper into yourself, then real shaucha happens.

Shaucha's benefits are clarity of intellect, a pleasing mind, focused awareness, a say over the senses-and thus eligibility to realize the Self.

Shaucha is being disinterested in the habitual tendencies of your own senses. You have the understanding Oh yes, here is this old familiar tendency coming up again. Come on, I have had this experience enough and still the body craves for it again.

By being disinterested for a moment in one's own body and senses-just an idea, a sort of distaste-you will find that the situation changes.

Why do people love each other so much, have such an intimate relationship, and then fight? Ashaucha has happened.

If you don't get a distaste for the tendency of the senses, then distaste for the object of the senses is bound to come;you will blame the person or object.

Your attraction or craving is only as long as you think someone is "other". When you think they are part of you, the attraction dies out. That is why a husband or wife is not attracted to the partner but to someone else-because the partner has already become part of them.

When you realize everyone is part of your Self, you enjoy the whole world without a sense of craving.

When ashaucha happens, come back to shaucha quickly. Suppose you get drowned in any worldly event. Just remember:"I have become ashaucha; that is why I am suffering in misery." Then come back to shaucha. Your practices, meditation, Sudarshan Kriya, service, and Satsang will all help you.

当你悲伤时,实际是你已离开了你的本我,这称为阿窍恰(ashaucha)──不纯净。那表示你已变得不洁。

在印度当有人过世时,有十天他的近亲被视为不纯净,因为他们非常伤心。他们不纯净是因为他们已经离开了本我。十天内他们一直伴随着那种经验,颂读经典与知识为伍,而将他们拉回到本我,那就称为窍恰(shaucha)──纯净。他们清除了伴随事件而来的不纯净。

这在生命中一再发生,你变得不纯净,而你必需恢复纯净。深深进入自性,随后纯净出现了。

纯净的益处是理智清晰,心情愉快,头脑专注,能支配感官。因此可以体认本我。

纯净是对于感官的习性不感兴趣。你自己明白:「啊!是的,这熟悉的老习性又出现了!来吧!这种经验我已经够多了,但身体还是渴好此道。」

对自己的身体或感官片刻的不感兴趣──只是一种念头,一种嫌恶──那情形就立刻改观。

人们为何彼此十分相爱,关系亲密而又争吵呢?因为不纯净出现。

假如你不厌恶感官的习性,你就会厌恶感官的标的物,你会责怪那个人或那个事物。

你的迷惑或渴望出现在你视某人为「别人」时。当你视之为你的一部分时,迷恋就消失了。因此夫妻不相互吸引而会被其他人所吸引,因为配偶已成为他们的一部份。

当你体认到人人都是你本我的一部份,你就享受着整个世界而无渴求的感觉。

不纯净出现时,快速的回归纯净。假如你沉溺于任何世俗物,只要记得「我变得不纯净了,那是我受苦的原因。」然后回归纯净。灵修、静心、净化呼吸法、服务人群与唱场都将对你有所帮助。
